My goal for every newborn session is to create memories. We live in such a digital age that many time when people think about photo sessions all they think about is posting to social media, and I totally understand that. Social media is in fact social! You get to share your memories with family and friends and relive those memories in years to come. Having those memories be tangible though is even more important. Seeing the happiest time of your life displayed on your walls everyday is such a beautiful reminder, and for children it is a reminder of how special they are. I remember going to my grandparents house when I was little and seeing my baby photos on their living room walls and feeling how special that made me-how loved.
So when you plan your newborn session it’s so much more that just digital images, I want you to enjoy these photos every day as a reminder of how special you and your baby are. One of the ways I really encourage that is to get a printed item in your collection. Whether it is a canvas or an album, its a beautiful way to relive that time in your life that feels like yesterday and an eternity ago, all at the same time.
One of the questions I ask when planning your session is what color or theme are you planning for the nursery. The reason I ask that is because it gives me a sense of your personal style and, most likely, when these photos get printed they will go up in the nursery.
When Summer sent me the color theme for Taylor’s nursery I was so excited- I loved it! These soft cool grey, blue, cream, and muted mauve were definitely up my alley. It’s really rare for girl moms to not ask for pink (and ps I love pink), but I also love blues for girls, and most newborn clients don’t ask for blue. So I knew this was going to be a fun one.
Summer wanted large canvases for the nursery, and I was so excited to se how everything came together. She even sent me a photo of when they were all hung. I can’t wait to do something like this in our little girls nursery. I want her to grow up and see on the walls of our home how loved she is.
