Folding Travel Wood Floors for Photography- bluebirdprops.com

As many of you know, I’m an on location newborn photographer. While it defiantly is extra work, I love being able to offer this to my clients and have them at ease in their own homes. There are certain things I wish I could bring with me but just hasn’t been possible…until now. I really wanted to be able to bring beautiful floor options. Many times clients have carpet, and if they do have wood floors they have too much glare. I started looking into faux floor drops. They come in difference fabrics or vinyl with rubber backing. Problem with these was they are super fragile! Not to mention they don’t do well over carpet and get wrinkled, and I would have to baby them loading them into the car. It just wasn’t going to work. I wanted real wood floors that I could fold up and take with me. Nothing too big so it wouldn’t be too heavy, but just the right size to fit a baby and maybe a sibling.

I talked to my handy-dandy wood working man about for awhile. We talked about what I needed as a photographer. I needed a fake floor for newborn photography that would be light, have a no-glare finish, and it needed to fold up and be easy to carry. Two prototypes later and I had my travel wood floors!!

We talked about what color to make them, and I looked him all doe eyed and said, “can I have three colors.” To my surprise he said “sure!” So now I have 3 different colors of floors!! I love these things so much we decided to start a prop business and sell them. At first I was just thinking for on location newborn photographers, but even for photographers that convert a room in their home and want to save space. Or even people who do product or pet photography-really endless possibilities!

So that’s want we did. We started a new business, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you. Please visit bluebirdprops.com or show us some “like” love at Facebook.com/bluebirdprops

Safety first! To use as a “wall” just clamp to a backdrop stand. I also used sandbags to make it super stable.
