Bean Bag Blitz- Morgan Hill Newborn Photography

So I finally bought a bean bag puck for newborn sessions. In fact I bought the one everyone recommended by shoot baby(www.shootbaby.com). It’s looks great, and it’s nice and big! Which was the problem I had with the other bean bag I had picked up at Walmart. The only down side to the whole thing is that the bag doesn’t come with bean! I know, I know that doesn’t sound so horrible-just buy beans and fill it right? Oh so very very wrong. What you may not know is that bean bag filling is made up of tiny white styrofoam balls-think of packing peanuts but little pellets. Remember how much static packing peanuts have?? So these little beans have a mind if their own!

The website recommend a few places to buy beans but all of them were going to take a week to be delivered. I didn’t have that much time, and surprisingly Amazons prices were a lot higher. So what is a girl suppose to do when she is in desperate need of beans? Scalp her crappy useless small beanbag!!! Funny enough it was actually cheaper this way. The bean bags at Walmart were only $15 and I needed about two and a half and the individual bags of beans were $12 and I needed 4. And the best part was I got to walk right into the Gilroy Walmart and get them instead of ordering them.

Now it was time to fill. At first they went everywhere! And the funny thing is it was like magic and these little bead rolling UP your arm! So I got a 2 liter soda bottle and cut both ends off and made a funnel! It was slow and steady but hot the job done. Now I have a beautiful full bean bag puck for my session today.

Btw, this is definitely a two person job. My wonderful man helped me and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him. Seriously there would have been more beans on our living room floor than in the bag if I would have done this myself!!
